International Cooperation as a Priority of Modern Concept of Education

Within the framework of the WHO Global Initiative “Rehabilitation 2030”, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Interdisciplinary Dialogue in Children’s Rehabilitation” was held on May 28–29, 2026, at the “National Center for Children's Rehabilitation” NPJSC with the support of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The conference brought together speakers from various countries, including China, Türkiye, South Korea, Russia, Slovenia, France, and Bulgaria, as well as from Nazarbayev University and national experts.

The key areas of the conference included not only the implementation of the WHO “Rehabilitation 2030” principles within the children’s rehabilitation system, interdisciplinary interaction of professionals as part of comprehensive rehabilitation, and the integration of robotic and digital technologies, but also staff training, the development of professional competencies, and the role and advancement of nursing in children’s rehabilitation system.

Representing “KMU” NCJSC, Professor T.T. Kispayeva delivered a presentation “Rehabilitation Competencies of Nursing Staff in Neurorehabilitation.” In her report, she highlighted the university’s leading role in the education of nursing professionals with rehabilitation competencies through bachelor’s academic degree, as well as in their improvement through continuing and non-formal education programs. She also emphasized the high level of involvement of students in both research and educational activities, demonstrated by publications in high-rated journals, prize-winning performances at national and international conferences, success in international academic competitions, and achievements in startup contests.

As part of the conference, a series of workshops covering various areas of medical rehabilitation were conducted, including traditional Chinese medicine approaches. The sessions featured renowned speakers such as Fuyong Jiao, professor at the children’s hospital in the Shaanxi province, Xi An, China, Song Hujie, the head of the Xi An hospital on treatment of brain diseases, and doctors of traditional Chinese medicine Clinic “Xi An” Gao Feng, Xue Junlong. Senior lecturer at the department, Candidate of Medical Sciences Z.S. Kabikenova, participated in the workshop.

The conference also served as a platform for discussing modern approaches to comprehensive rehabilitation with consideration to the priorities and guiding principles of the WHO Global Initiative, aimed at strengthening rehabilitation systems and ensuring the accessibility, quality, and continuity of rehabilitation assistance.
